As the chill sets in, warm up with all shades of rust.
There’s no denying it. We’re all ready and eager to get into the winter dressing zone. There’s nothing quite like layers, boots and coats to make a true style statement, in a way that summer just doesn’t allow.
Trending this winter – and a flattering colour for so many of us – is rust. Think deep, dirty, but delicious, shades of orange. If you’re wary of colour, this is a fabulous place to start working it into your wardrobe. Rust works wonders with black, which many of us gravitate towards anyway.

Rust could be seen across the international runways in 2016 collections, including in those from Thakoon, Chloe and Donna Karan, Giambattista Valli and Sonia Rykiel. Designer looks mixed different shades of rust and deep orange, even edging into mustard pairings.
Winter white isn’t going away and you can’t beat its unique ability to elevate an outfit from pretty to plush. A white coat for winter goes with everything and will last for seasons to come as an investment in enduring style. A white knit, finer in style than the chunky penchant of previous seasons, will also take you from casual to cool, and of course white fits with black like hand-in-glove.

Think Chanel and the luxe impression that we so often see created by these high-end labels with the incorporation of white. And don’t worry about getting it less than pristine- it can be washed. Of course a crisp white shirt is always on trend and especially under this season’s fine, preppy jumpers and cardigans.

The grey marles of last season are also here to stay and many of us are glad about that. Grey tones can vary vastly, so try on items until you find the right fit for your skintone.

Once you get your winter wardrobe favourites out, it’s a good idea to do a wardrobe audit. Be honest with yourself about what still works and then plan wisely about how to buy to freshen up for the cooler months ahead. Take photos of your items on your phone and ask advice when shopping.
Enjoy the chill by wrapping up in style.
