Tis The Season To Be Fashionably Jolly
With December in full swing there’s no doubt that it’s all about the festive Christmas functions. Whether it be work drinks, family gatherings or just general social shenanigans, at this time of year we’re all on the holy grail to find that perfect outfit that will not just wow, but allow us to celebrate the year gone by and embrace the glory of the one that is about to begin.
So the question is, how best to nail this magical ensemble. Fashion, at its best, should amaze the wearer with not just how great it makes us look, but also how fabulous it makes us feel – it’s the ultimate confidence boost. And that’s why beautiful clothes are worth the investment; and Christmas is the best time to showcase them.
Requirements from an outfit are of course totally individual. It may be that one statement piece is needed for a particular event, or conversely you may be someone that is dashing from day to night, or from one event to another. You could be the person that doesn’t want to make a big investment, but who would prefer to stick with an old faithful outfit and simply update or jazz it up with accessories.
Only A Hero
If you’re after a showstopper then you’re in luck. This is the time of year to get on your razzle dazzle and show yourself as a fully committed fashionista. There’s no doubt that the dress of the season is the slip dress – simple, sleek and super sexy this style is the bomb. The Northern Hemisphere fashion barometer tells us this trend is continuing into winter, so it’s no one-season wonder. If you’re worried about exposing your arms, then get a spray tan and watch the wobble melt away. Still worried? Pop a tee underneath or a lightweight cover on top. Sequins are a sure-fire way to turn heads, and if you feel this is a smidge over the top, then dress them down with simple shoes or fashion pumps. Embroidered features, silks, satins, velvets and embellishments all make a statement – so don’t hold back.
Pick And Mix
If you want to make your wardrobe work hard for you then separates are often the way to go. The flexibility in swapping pieces around is fashion gold, and it also makes glamour and comfort achievable goals.
Statement earrings are enough to bring an existing look screaming past the fashion finish line. From chic and sophisticated to on trend large and loud, this can be an economical way to update. Bags and belts can also immediately transform a look. A belt will take you from day to evening in just one simple cinch – a floaty shift becomes a flattering fitted look in seconds. If you fancy totally updating, then try the instagrammers current favourite of layering a baggy top over a dress or with a skirt or pants. By using the hidden belt to achieve the French Tuck effect, you will look ab fab.
