Romance Rules With Loobies Story
With Wendys Boutique bursting with new season stock, and glasses of bubbles clutched in the palms of ladies filled with anticipation, last Tuesday’s Loobies Story Evening was off to a flying start. Hosted by the brand’s Co-Owner and Designer Laurinda Sutcliffe, the night did not disappoint. Loobies Story is a label bursting with joy – in each exotic colour combination is the echo of a far-flung destination. Not only did the ladies in attendance get a glimpse of styles that have yet to drop, they were also privy to hints on up and coming trends. Laurinda did not stop at showcasing a selection of summer stunners, she ensured that those present would walk away with tips on how to maximize each beautiful piece, and how to ensure that, with clever styling, these lovely outfits would last for many, many seasons.
Laurinda has described her brand as having ‘a bohemian edge with a lot of luxury’ – and this absolutely positions the label. There is certainly an air of boho about the looks – but this is no hippy trippy doo la, these are looks that are sophisticated, feminine and uplifting. There is certainly a focus on beautiful colours, embellishment and elegant cuts. Nevertheless the exquisite fabric choices do not go unnoticed; easy-care viscose, silk, and perhaps the ultimate combination of opulence and practicality, silk with a little stretch. It is this combination of lux that keeps the Loobies Story devotees coming back for more.

The emphasis is on ensembles that can be pulled together with no fuss, and on looks that will take you from day to night with the mere flip of an accessory. And yes, the one we all love, looks that will flatter the figure. So with that in mind, hemlines have been cut at times to a high-low design in order to avoid the frame being swamped (Starry Night Blouse $299); ruffles have been positioned slightly to the front of a side seam to ensure bulk is not added (Bahamas Frill Dress $449), and sleeves have been either added or ‘cold shouldered’ (Monaco Dress $449) to showcase the best of the arm, and hide the bit that some of us may not be so keen on.

Style Story
Every season Loobies Story pieces are carefully designed with a colour palette that is easily coordinated with other key pieces – either from the range, or from your wardrobe. This summer the soft tones have, amongst others, hues of green, notes of blush, a rainbow of blues from sky to indigo, and a delicious gold. These are all shades that are oh so easy to team up, whether with a simple white Tee, a dark denim jacket or a pair of plain pants.

Wrap It Up
Those who shy away from a full pattern garment will love a Loobies Story scarf. The Wrap style scarf is super versatile (a large silk square), and super flattering. Its beaded tassel feature serves to elongate the look when worn down, or alternatively it can be knotted around the neck (according to Laurinda coil over the top of your hair to be uber on point). Because of the volume of fabric, this scarf also makes the perfect wrap or sarong, and its silk composition ensures it’s warm in cooler climes, and breathable in the tropics. On the other hand the smaller scarves will joosh up your outfit in one easy step, and are the perfect way to play with print or sparkles and achieve the Loobies Look.
